Birthday Message from CEO Gary Doherty

It gives me great pleasure to join in the birthday celebrations for the BCUQI Quality Improvement hub after seeing how much interest has grown in quality improvement across the health board. Quality is so important in everything we do, wherever you work, but even more so in the NHS. Its so important for making what we do now, the best it can be for patient services and then tomorrow using it in ways to push improvement forward.

Through the commencement of the hub last year, I have been impressed by the dedication of all staff to make the best even better, by their commitment and dedication to improving ways of working through the Quality Improvement resources provided to them by our BCUQI team. Some great examples of this include the success of the team behind the drive to introduce Thromboprophylaxis Walkarounds to Improve Patient Safety who used quality improvement methodology, resulting in Glan Clwyd and Wrexham receiving Exemplar status and the introduction of the Sepsis collaborative with teams from the emergency departments across BCUHB working together to learn, share barriers and success they have had to date to work collaboratively to make sustained changes for all patients who are treated for Sepsis.

These examples are a couple of many projects and initiatives I hear about and it’s been great to see the BCUQI hub evolve as a virtual resource and to see engagement grow across our quality improvement social media channels. I am grateful and also very proud of the staff who are going the extra mile to take on projects ensure the patients receive an excellent quality of care.

Penblwydd hapus / Happy Birthday BCUQI!
